COMPARISON OF PATHOGENICITY OF Fusarium equiseti AND Colletotrichum graminicola ON Echinochloa spp

Echinochloa spp. are the most important weeds in rice fields. In this research Fusarium equiseti and Colletotrichum graminicola were isolated from these weeds and then their pathogenicity effects were compared on these weeds and five rice cultivars in a completely random design with three replications in greenhouse conditions. Fungi were inoculated on weeds and rice cultivars using a spore susp...

Occurrence of Fusarium spp. and Fumonisins in Stored Wheat Grains Marketed in Iran

Wheat grains are well known to be invaded by Fusarium spp. under field and storage conditions and contaminated with fumonisins. Therefore, determining Fusarium spp. and fumonisins in wheat grains is of prime importance to develop suitable management strategies and to minimize risk. Eighty-two stored wheat samples produced in Iran were collected from various supermarkets and tested for the prese...

Genetic Mapping of Pathogenicity and Aggressiveness of Gibberella zeae (Fusarium graminearum) Toward Wheat.

ABSTRACT Gibberella zeae is the major fungal pathogen of Fusarium head blight of wheat and produces several mycotoxins that are harmful to humans and domesticated animals. We identified loci associated with pathogenicity and aggressiveness on an amplified fragment length polymorphism based genetic map of G. zeae in a cross between a lineage 6 nivalenol producer from Japan and a lineage 7 deoxyn...

Distribution of pathogenicity islands in Salmonella spp.

We investigated the phylogenetic distribution of the SPI-1 and SPI-2 pathogenicity islands in Salmonella spp. SPI-1 was present in representatives of all eight subspecific groups, but no SPI-2-hybridizing sequences were detected in group V (S. bongori). Our data suggest that SPI-2 was acquired by S. enterica after its split from S. bongori.
